Meet the Team

Benita

Founder & Organiser

Benita is the driving force behind Ballina Shire Youth Artists. With a deep passion for music and a love for the local community, she saw a gap in performance opportunities for young people in the Ballina Shire and decided to do something about it.

From organising the very first Youth Mic at Resonator Music to securing the Ballina Amphitheatre for a full band showcase, Benita has built this program from the ground up - connecting young artists with venues, mentors, and audiences who believe in them.

Her vision is simple: every young person deserves a stage. Whether they're a first-time performer or an experienced musician, Benita creates a safe, supportive space where creativity thrives and confidence grows.

Pete

Videographer & Media Coordinator

Pete handles videography and media coordination for Ballina Shire Youth Artists. From filming live performances to building the website, he makes sure our young artists get the professional content and online presence they deserve.

Based in the Northern Rivers, Pete volunteered his skills to help capture and share the energy of every event. Inspired by Ela's hand-drawn poster artwork, he built the site with a pastel, hand-drawn aesthetic that matches the grassroots spirit of the program.

Craig

Photographer

Craig is the local photographer who absolutely nailed the images from Youth Mic #2. A creative director and photographer based in the Northern Rivers, his incredible eye for capturing live music moments has given our young artists stunning, professional-quality photos that truly showcase their talent on stage.

Every performer gallery on this site is thanks to Craig's generous contribution - and the results speak for themselves.
